English + Culture

Our islands are steeped in history. We have a fascinating past and are the proud owners of megalithic temples which are the oldest freestanding structures in Europe – they predate the pyramids and Stonehenge by over a thousand years! We have a number of World Heritage sites, and you can learn more about these in our specially designed English + Culture Course.

The morning will see you in a General or Business course and the afternoon will be dedicated to learning more about our wonderful history, whilst visiting the most important sites on the island which is set to be the European Capital of Culture in 2018.

Assessment

On your first day at school, our Director of Studies will give you a written placement test and an oral interview to ensure that we place you in the best class for your level. Once your level improves sufficiently your teachers and the Director of Studies will discuss moving you up to a higher level. However if at any point during your course you feel that you would like to move up or down a level, you are free to discuss this matter with our staff.

Levels

Our courses are offered at these levels: Beginner, Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced. Courses are available at all levels.

Certificate

At the end of your course you will be given a Skylark certificate and a Student Report filled out and signed by your teacher.

Refunds

No refunds will be given once the student has started a course; although credit for future courses may be offered at the discretion of the school.

Course Duration

All times as indicated are subject to change.

All class lessons are 45 minutes each.

Private/Semi-Individual lessons are 60 minutes each.

Skylark is not open on public holidays; however, lessons missed on these particular days are duly made up for on other days.
